It is a very blustery start to the work week. The National Weather Service in Reno has extended the wind advisory for Lake Tahoe and Western Nevada to 5 p.m. .Monday. For Lake Tahoe, expect winds from the southwest winds 20 to 30 mph with gusts up to 50 mph. Ridgetop gusts up to 80 mph, with some gusts up to 100 mph through late morning. On Lake Tahoe, hazardous boating conditions with wave heights of 2 to 4 feet. Windprone areas in Western Nevada, gusts will be up to 65 mph, except for some enhanced gusts of 80-100 mph through mid-morning along parts of I-580/US-395 south of Reno through Washoe Valley.
As of 9:45 a.m. Monday, Liberty is reporting three outages affecting a total of 703 customers, most of them on the California side of Topaz Lake. NV Energy has multiple outages from Topaz Lake to Reno affecting almost 8,000 customers.
Due to the power outage, C.C. Meneley Elementary and Scarselli Elementary schools will be closed on Monday.
