SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Tahoe Fund has issued a call for local artists to paint a mural at Cascade Kitchens, a first-of-its-kind food hall and community gathering space in South Lake Tahoe. The project intends to create a large-scale exterior mural that captures the essence of Tahoe’s natural environment while celebrating the Tahoe Fund’s portfolio of projects.

“We’ve had tremendous success rallying the creativity of our local and regional artist community to create murals in locations around the Tahoe Basin that help inspire stewardship,” said Amy Berry, Tahoe Fund CEO. “By painting a mural on the side of the Cascade Kitchens building — above newly installed bike racks made possible thanks to Tahoe Fund donors — we hope to encourage even more people to help take care of Lake Tahoe.”

This project creates an opportunity to contribute a lasting piece of public art in South Lake Tahoe and invite people to get involved in the collaborative work of the Tahoe Fund and its partners to improve the Lake Tahoe environment for all to enjoy.

“Cascade Kitchens was built for this community — not just as a place to eat, but as a gathering space where everyone belongs,” said Fran Faulknor, owner of Cascade Kitchens. “This mural is an opportunity to put a South Lake Tahoe artist’s vision at the heart of that. We want our walls to reflect the people who walk through our doors every day, and we can’t wait to see what our local talent brings to life.”

Paint for the mural will be generously supplied by Kelly Brothers Painting.

Artists are invited to submit a proposal for consideration until May 31, 2026. The artist selected will be notified the week of June 15, 2026, with the installation occurring between late June and July 2026, weather permitting.
