On the North Shore? No problem, the 2025 High Elevation Community Gardening Grow Your Own Event is back on Friday, June 6, from 4:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the UC Davis Tahoe City Field Station in Tahoe City.
Enjoy discussions around lake-friendly gardening and cultivation techniques, various strategies to apply based on the local growing environment, history/background on featured plants, and information on how to garden organically at high elevation. These family-friendly events are in collaboration with UCCE Lake Tahoe Master Gardeners, UC Davis Tahoe Environmental Research Center, and Great Basin Institute. Be a part of our gardening community and share your experiences.
TERC staff and volunteers will be on-site to provide an inside look at the Tahoe City Field Station and learn about the UC Davis cutting-edge research. Check out the Eriksson Education Center and learn more about Lake Tahoe.
Organic compost (the garden’s black gold) is generously being donated from Full Circle Compost for all participants. Bring your own bucket, bag, or container of your choice to take home compost to boost your soil for happier and healthier plants.
Locally grown plants can be purchased (cash or credit) and picked up at the festival, there are no pre-orders this year. These specific plants are featured in each workshop and are part of a long-term phenology study that will determine the plants that grow best in our region.
There are no pre-orders this year, and plants are available first-come, first-served. Price list HERE.
