SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – An upper-level trough and strong cold front passed through the region Sunday, bringing a lake wind advisory with them, along with some areas of rain and even some snowflakes and freezing temperatures to South Lake Tahoe. Strong winds hit Lake Tahoe before the 5 p.m. Lake Wind Advisory, sending waves over local piers and boats into the rocks near Camp Richardson.

The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno said to expect widespread freezing to near-freezing temperatures on Monday and Tuesday mornings before a ridge builds back up. This allows for warmer and drier conditions into the weekend.

The current Lake Wind Advisory is in place until 5 a.m. Monday. Expect winds from the northeast 15-25 mph with gusts up to 45 mpn, and waves up to 3 feet.
