TRUCKEE, Calif. – The Sierra State Parks Foundation and California State Parks are holding the fourth annual Legacy Day, a vibrant, family-friendly celebration of the cultural, natural, and historical richness of the land at Donner Memorial State Park. Come on Saturday, June 20, for a day of discovery, storytelling, and community spirit at one of California’s most storied landscapes.
This free public event invites visitors of all ages to explore the enduring legacy of the land and the people who have called it home. Legacy Day features a lively and diverse lineup of activities, including:
- Live music performances from Touch of Gold and Alice and the Wonderlandz
- Traditional Chinese Lion Dancers
- Delicious lunch from Now We’re Taco-ing
- Historical half-mile walking tours through the park
- Interactive children’s activities
- Engaging booths from local exhibitors and cultural organizations
- An engaging kid-friendly talk on the rescue efforts to bring Sugar Pines back to our forest by the Executive Director of the Sugar Pine Foundation at 4 pm
Legacy Day is designed to engage, educate, and inspire, bringing together local residents, visitors, and partners to reflect on the stories, traditions, and environmental significance of the Donner region.
Admission to the event is free, with a $10 day-use parking fee per vehicle still in effect. No reservations are required.
