SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Lake Tahoe Community College will host the 2nd Annual Coyote Country Steak Cookoff on Saturday, June 6, on the LTCC campus. The event is open to students, staff, and the public and runs from noon to 6 p.m., with an awards ceremony at 7 p.m.

The cookoff draws competing BBQ teams from several states, local chefs and hospitality professionals, and LTCC Culinary Arts students, who will operate food-and-beverage vendor stations throughout the event. Competition categories include mocktails, appetizers, wings, two steak divisions, and pork ribs.

“Join us as we celebrate America’s 250th anniversary with a day filled with fun, community, and entertainment. Enjoy live music, delicious food, refreshing mocktails, beer and wine, bingo, and many other exciting activities. Best of all, every ticket purchased helps support a great cause by funding student scholarships and creating opportunities for future generations. We look forward to celebrating with our community and making this a memorable event for everyone. We are grateful to LTVA, the LTCC Foundation, and Advance for their generous support in helping bring this event to life,” said Chef Virat Vij, Director of Culinary and Hospitality Programs at LTCC, together with Glenn Simpson, Dany Tenenblat, Erin Kangas, LTCC Culinary and Hospitality students, and community volunteers who helped organize the celebration.

Admission is $25 per person and includes four food coupons redeemable with vendors at the event. Vendors accept coupons only. Admission is free for LTCC and Lake Tahoe Unified School District students. Tickets are available at ltcc.edu or through The Cork & More in South Lake Tahoe. Tickets will also be available at the gate on the day of the event.

The Coyote Country Steak Cookoff is presented in partnership with the Steak Cookoff Association, American Culinary Federation, Advance, Tahoe Chamber, and the Lake Tahoe Visitors Authority.
