SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Tahoe High School (STHS) today honored three more athletes who are committing to playing at the next level in their fields. Three seniors, Luke Amato, Leslie Pulido, and Jacob Manning, joined a list of their classmates who will be taking their athletic abilities to college.

Luke Amato will be attending Ft. Lewis College in Colorado, where he’ll compete in cycling – a team sport that includes his three specialties, mountain biking, road biking, and cyclocross. Ft. Lewis has had 25 National Championships in those three disciplines. Luke will be majoring in kinesiology.

Leslie Pulido, team captain of the girls’ track team at STHS for the past two seasons, and a key member of their team’s excellence at the Nevada state championships. She will be running for American River College in the fall. Leslie will be majoring in biology.

Jacob Manning, a key member of the boys’ track team, will be running for the Lake Tahoe Community College Coyotes. When he graduates from STHS next week, he will follow that by earning his Associate’s Degree in computer science the next week. He will be earning degrees in fire science and business in the coming months. His ultimate goal is to mature as a runner and run for a D1 school, with Oregon his top pick.

Coach Elliott Amsden, who is a member of the STHS Class of 2011, worked with all three athletes in the strength and conditioning room, exercise science classes, and on the track.

Amsden said all three worked hard to be the athletes they are today, and congratulated them on their next endeavors.
