The South Lake Tahoe Special Olympians would like to thank The Hangar Taproom for sharing their bocce courts as athletes practice for upcoming tournaments in July. The Hangar graciously hosts the athletes, coaches, and families every Wednesday from 12 p.m. – 1:30 p.m.
Also, please support Special Olympic athletes as they carry the Olympic torch from Ski Run to El Dorado Beach on June 21 from 10 a.m. – 12 p.m. In Northern California, the Torch Run takes place annually in June and culminates at the Opening Ceremony for our largest competition of the year: the Special Olympics Northern California Summer Games. The runners and athletes appreciate the community supporting their year-round athletic efforts and hope you can cheer on runners during the Olympic torch run in South Lake Tahoe.
Special Olympics Northern California is dedicated to promoting inclusion and empowering children and adults with intellectual disabilities – both on and off the field. Sports include bocce, swimming, track and field, golf, and bowling. Those interested in volunteering with Special Olympics can contact Bonnie Fiegel at southlaketahoe@sonc.org.
