SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) held a reception Friday to honor the ten certified and eight classified employees who will be retiring this month. Family gathered with the retirees and administrators at Elements Eatery in South Lake Tahoe.

Those who are retiring:

Certified Staff – 281.5 Years

  • Larry Lambdin, SPED Teacher/Resource Specialist at STMS – 44 year
  • Michael Patterson, Automotive Tech Teacher at STHS, 37 years
  • Vickie Dant, 3rd Grade Teacher at Tahoe Valley -36 years
  • Jiliene Frye, 4th Grade Teacher at Sierra House – 29 years
  • Jesus Cortez-Acosta, 3rd Grade Teacher at Bijou – 29 years
  • Karen Nighswonger, All High School Grades at Mt. Tallac – 29 years
  • Socorro Sanchez, 2nd Grade Teacher at Bijou – 23.5 years
  • Patricia Perazzo, SPED Teacher, Meyers and District – 20 years
  • Karen Sullivan, Kindergarten at Sierra House – 20 years
  • Timothy Martin, Automotive Tech CTE Instructor – 14 years

Classified Staff – 142 Years

  • Barbara Coolbaugh, Executive Assistant – 25 years
  • Wendy Copple, Library Assistant at STHS – 25 years
  • Alice Brady, Special Ed Instructional Asst at Tahoe Valley – 20 years
  • Blanca Castillo, Instructional Assistant at STMS – 20 years
  • David Santana, Special Ed Instructional Asst at STMS – 17 years
  • Michael Renzi, Lead Vehicle Mechanic – 15 years
  • Lilia Nilsen, Cafeteria Supervisor at Tahoe Valley – 11 years
  • Mark Hoefer, Campus Security at STHS – 9 years

Their impacts for generations were recognized, and for making “South Lake Tahoe children feel special.”

Larry will be honored again at Thursday’s LTUSD Board Meeting for her 44 years of teaching, 32 in South Lake Tahoe, and for his decades of service and founding the school’s Club Live.
