SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After graduating from South Tahoe High on Friday, Zoe Brosch is now making plans to head to San Diego State University where she will be part of their track and field team. Zoe will be participating in throwing events – hammer, shot put, and discus.

Having started in the throwing events during her sophomore year, Zoe hasn’t had that much opportunity to participate with her junior year canceled due to COVID-19 and a shortened senior year with just five meets. She had great success in 2019 and 2021 and is excited to see how far it takes her in college.

There wasn’t much recruiting going on this year due to the pandemic but Zoe did have other offers with scholarships involved, but she knew she wanted to be at San Diego State.

She has had a personal coach for the past two years, retired collegiate coach and former Glenbrook resident Bill Harvey. During his twenty years at Occidental College, Bill led men’s and women’s teams to a record 44 SCIAC (Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) Championships in 20 years. He coached 199 All-Americans and 17 individual NCAA DIII Champions.

Introduced through a friend of her mom, Bill and Zoe worked together, hard work that got her to the regionals and state championships the first year. He volunteered all of his time to help Zoe realize her ability.

Zoe is the third Brosch girl to study at San Diego State. Sister Maya graduated in May after being a hurdler for the Aztecs for four years, and their older sister graduated from the school’s nursing program. Their parents are Kelly and Felix Brosch.

The youngest Brosch will be majoring in Child Development with the goal of being a teacher.
