SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The 233 members of the South Tahoe High Class of 2025 walked across the stage Friday on the school’s football field in front of family, friends, and faculty. Also walking the stage were one graduate from Elevated, two from Adult Education, and one with a Certification of Completion.
Scott Yamaoka is the Class of 2025 valedictorian, and he gave a speech “To Say Farewell” before he heads off to Harvard in the fall. Milan Riva is the class salutatorian. The commencement ceremonies included a guitar solo of the Star Spangled Banner by Jacob Manning with the turning of the tassles at the end lead by Senior Class President Elle Magdaleno.
The colleges graduates are headed to:
- Harvard – 1 student
- University of Utah – 10 students
- San Diego State University – 7 students
- CSU San Marcos – 6 students
- Chico State – 4 students
- CSU Northridge – 3 students
- Long Beach State – 3 students
- Cal Poly Humboldt – 2 students
- Sacramento State – 2 students
- UC Berkeley – 2 students
- UC Davis – 2 students
- UC Merced – 2 students
- UCLA – 2 students
- UC Santa Barbara – 2 students
- UC San Diego – 2 students
- University of Nevada, Reno – 2 students
- One student heading to each of these schools – Arizona State, Cal Poly – SLO, Colorado State, CSU Monterey Bay, CSU Monterey Bay, Montana State, Oregon State, Rome City, Seattle University, SF State, UC Riverside, UC Santa Cruz, University of Arkansas, University of Hawaii Manoa, University of Oregon, USC, and Utah Valley
Over 100 of the graduates will be attending junior colleges, with the majority at Lake Tahoe Community College. Some are planning on entering the military, with a few more headed to trade schools, according to Principal Justin Zunino.
