TAHOE CITY, Calif. – The Sierra State Parks Foundation invites the community to explore destination stewardship with its monthly speaker series, “Tahoe Talks on the Water.” This event features the Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Council discussing why destination stewardship matters and sharing recent regional projects on a scenic sunset cruise aboard the iconic paddleboat, the Tahoe Gal.

Enjoy an evening of community, conservation, and education on Wednesday, July 8, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 8:30 pm, departing from Tahoe City. This month’s presentation features Managing Director Nettie Pardue, an accomplished nonprofit executive, facilitator, and destination stewardship leader who will lead an engaging, accessible discussion on balancing sustainable tourism with the preservation of one of the world’s most iconic natural environments.

Attendees will discover how a group of government agencies, non-profits, local businesses, and the Washoe Tribe is working together to protect the Tahoe environment and enhance the well-being of local communities. Nettie will highlight the award-winning Lake Tahoe Destination Stewardship Plan, developed with the participation of over 3,000 residents, visitors, and businesses, and share actionable updates on how everyone can help take care of Tahoe’s cherished communities.

“We are thrilled to bring the community together with a destination stewardship leader for an evening that highlights how local action protects the Tahoe Basin,” said Michael Myers, executive director of the Sierra State Parks Foundation. “It’s a unique opportunity to learn about cutting-edge conservation management while directly supporting our state parks.”

Proceeds from the series benefit the Sierra State Parks Foundation, supporting the preservation and restoration of Lake Tahoe’s California State Parks.

Reservations are required as seating is strictly limited. Tickets are $60 per person; dinner menu with items ranging from $12 to $25, as well as a cash bar, will be available. It is highly recommended that guests arrive at 5:30 pm, as the boat leaves sharply at 6 pm! The boat is predicted to return to the docks at 8:30 pm.
