EL DOREADO COUNTY, Calif. – The Bonanza Fire near Shingle Springs prompted the evacuation of residents in the area between Highway 49 and Old Frenchtown Road on Tuesday.
The fire was reported around 2:40 p.m. and has burned approximately 181 acres, and is listed as 40 percent contained. Due to steep terrain and unburned fuels nearby, the fire will remain in patrol status for the next several days to ensure full containment, and crews will continue to monitor the area to ensure no new smoke develops within the fire’s interior.
All evacuation orders have now been lifted, and residents have been able to return home.
This is a good reminder to make sure you have the tools needed to be prepared.
