SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno has issued a Wind Advisory for the Greater Lake Tahoe area at elevations under 7,000 feet for Friday, June 20, from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Western Nevada, Mono and Alpine counties will see a windy Friday as well, with a Red Flag Warning in place until midnight Friday.

Winds at Lake Tahoe will be from the southwest, 15 to 25 mph with gusts up to 40 mph.

Expect gusty winds that will blow around unsecured objects. Tree limbs could be blown down, and a few power outages may result.

The wind will bring a cooler weekend to the Lake Tahoe region, with overnight low temperatures dropping to just about freezing.
