SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – July 4th is not far away, and communities around Lake Tahoe are preparing for special events around America’s 250th birthday.

South Shore

The nationally recognized Fourth of July “Lights on the Lake” fireworks show entails pyrotechnics that illuminate the night sky over Lake Tahoe as a spectacular setting to celebrate an Independence Day tradition and America’s 250th anniversary. Bright lights, colors and various formations in spherical patterns and waterfalls are paired with the musical selections. Beaches, boats, lodging properties, and trails include a variety of ways to view the fireworks.

New this year is a special link to listen to the synchronized music to the fireworks. Visit HERE or follow the QR code on the poster below. KRLT-FM will also be carrying the music on 93.9 FM. At the start time of the show, 9:45 p.m., open the page and tap “start listening.” The music will automatically begin playing at the start time of the show. No signup is required; simply open the page.

Before the fireworks, the City of South Lake Tahoe is holding its annual 4th of July Parade, starting on Ski Run Blvd. at 9 a.m. and ending at a new location this year, Lyons Avenue. Lake Tahoe Blvd./US50 will be closed in both directions during the parade and alternate routes will be available. More info HERE.

North Shore

The 78th Tahoe City Fireworks Show will be at 9:30 p.m. from a barge off Commons Beach. The show is presented by the Tahoe City Downtown Association and completely funded by private donations from businesses and individuals. Donations are needed to continue this community tradition.

July 3-5, there are multiple holiday events around the North Shore. Visit here for a schedule. FREE shuttles from Olympic Valley and West Shore each day to the activities.

Incline Village

Activities July 2-4. The celebration includes the Local Heroes Parade, Pancake Breakfast, family activities, community programming, and special events honoring local service personnel. Visitors should confirm specific schedules with the Incline Village Crystal Bay Visitors Bureau before arrival. Holiday-weekend parking can fill quickly, particularly on July 4, so arriving early is recommended.

The celebration opens on July 2 with SummerFest at UNR Lake Tahoe, followed by an evening of patriotic music performed by the Tahoe Philharmonic. By Friday morning, the village is fully in holiday mode. Residents and visitors gather for a flag-raising ceremony and pancake breakfast before lining the streets for the annual parade. The afternoon unfolds with a community fair, family activities, and the sort of small-town traditions that have become increasingly rare in modern America, including an ice cream-eating contest that reliably attracts competitors and spectators alike.

On July 4, the day begins much the same way it has for generations, with another pancake breakfast and neighbors greeting one another over coffee before making their way to the lake. A complimentary beach barbecue keeps the atmosphere festive throughout the afternoon as families spread blankets beneath the pines and children move between shoreline adventures and community activities.

At this time, no fireworks are scheduled. For more information, visit HERE.
