Being part of the Code RED alert system in El Dorado County was key to navigating the Caldor Fire last summer, and changes have been made to better inform the community. The El Dorado County Office of Emergency Services partnered with CalOES to bring a new system, El Dorado County Emergency Alerts. This notification service goes to residents and businesses by app, telephone, cell phone, text message, email, and social media when there is a threat to the health or safety of residents.

The information from CodeRED is supposed to migrate over to the new system but the County is encouraging new registration as a better way to update your notification options. You may receive notifications from both El Dorado County Emergency Alerts and CodeRED during the transition period.

The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office of Emergency Services alert and warning system provides a number of ways in which the county may contact the community in the event of an emergency such as evacuations due to wildfires, hazardous material spills, or urgent law enforcement operations.

It is recommended residents go to https://www.smart911.com/smart911/ref/login.action?pa=edcgov and sign in to El Dorado County Emergency Alerts to verify the information is correct. The User ID should be your email address. If you forgot your User ID or need your password reset, click “Forgot User ID or Password.”

If you do not want to receive emergency alerts you can be removed from the system by logging into your profile, Clicking Edit Account Settings and by selecting “REMOVE ACCOUNT”.

You may wish to save the contact information for El Dorado County Emergency Alerts to avoid confusing it with a SPAM call or email. It is important to allow messages from this number and not to block it. Blocking will prevent emergency messages to go through. Telephone messaging will show a Caller ID of 530-621-7595. Emails will come from edcgov@getrave.com. Text messages will come from a six-digit short code that may vary, which cannot be saved.

Information for the transition can be located at https://ready.edso.org.
