VIRGINIA CITY, Nev. –  The Virginia & Truckee Railroad is proud to commemorate the 50th anniversary of its historic return to service with a series of special events and pricing offers honoring its legacy and the spirit of the nation’s Bicentennial.

In 1976, just in time for Fourth of July celebrations, the iconic V&T Railroad resumed operations out of Virginia City for the first time in nearly 40 years.  As envisioned by founder Bob C. Gray as a young man in 1950, the rebirth of the historic line was led by Engine No. 28, an 1888 4-4-0 American-type locomotive,  marking a pivotal moment in Nevada’s rail history. This July,  Bob Gray’s legacy is celebrated by inviting visitors to relive that moment with commemorative train rides and vintage-inspired pricing.
