EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office held a ceremony in front of its Placerville headquarters on Monday to unveil the new highway signs in honor of Deputy Brian “Ish” Ishmael.
Sheriff D’Agostini and Senator Brian Dahle spoke at the event in front of “Ish’s” family, friends, and his law enforcement family. The signs were then mounted on both eastbound and westbound at US-50 and Missouri Flat Road.
Deputy Ishmael was killed on October 23, 2019, in the line of duty after being shot after arrival at a home in Somerset, Calif. He was responding to a call of theft from a marijuana garden. Since then, the shooter has been convicted and sentenced to prison.
The signs are located in an area where “Ish” drove regularly as an El Dorado County Deputy Sheriff and a Placerville Police Officer.
