RENO, Nev. – The American Advertising Federation of Reno (AAF) and Atlantis Casino Resort Spa recently honored the recipients of the American Advertising Awards 2026, the annual Ad People of the Year. This year marked the introduction of the inaugural Young Professional of the Year award, proudly presented to Rowena Magbitang-Piñero, a rising star in the Northern Nevada advertising industry.
A Truckee Meadows Community College (TMCC) graduate and South Lake Tahoe local, Rowena has made significant strides over her four-year career as an illustrator, designer, and copywriter at Design on Edge, a respected and award-winning creative agency. The new award, presented in partnership with Ad 2 Reno, recognizes emerging talent in the early stages of their professional journey who demonstrate creativity, ambition, and leadership potential.
“This recognition celebrates not only Rowena’s exceptional skills but also her vibrant energy and dedication to advancing our industry,” said Ad 2 Reno President Bailey Allen. “She consistently goes above and beyond—whether through her creative contributions, active involvement in Ad 2 Reno, or efforts to strengthen the local creative community.”
Rowena stands out for her commitment to inclusivity, diversity, community, vulnerability, and faith—values she weaves deeply into her work and approach. As a proud Filipino-American, she uses her design and illustration talents to challenge conventional narratives, uplift marginalized experiences, and create meaningful work that inspires reflection and growth.
“I am deeply committed to creating with a full heart and crafting work that leaves lasting impact,” Rowena shared. “Good design guides us toward what is true, good, and beautiful in our world, and I strive to embody that in everything I do.”
Beyond her role at Design on Edge, Rowena serves as the Membership Chair on the Ad 2 Reno board. After a 15-year hiatus, AD2 re-launched its Reno chapter in 2025 to provide leadership opportunities and community initiatives for advertising professionals aged 32 and under. The new chapter aligns with the American Advertising Federation’s District 14, joining regional clubs throughout Northern California and Northern Nevada.
The Young Professional of the Year award highlights Rowena’s impressive momentum and positions her as a leading force among Northern Nevada’s next generation of advertising talent.
