LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – Clean Up The Lake is looking for volunteers for a 5th of July cleanup and water quality research project in Incline Village, Nev., on Crystal Bay – Lake Tahoe. They are looking for boat captains, kayakers, snorkelers or freedivers, scuba divers, and surface support volunteers to assist with our post-fireworks cleanup effort. Your participation will help them remove debris from the lake following the Fourth of July celebrations and contribute to important data collection on the environmental impact of fireworks.

Some volunteers will also have the opportunity to join Clean Up the Lake’s water quality sampling team aboard the research vessel, collecting samples from 20 designated sites to assess the effects of the fireworks on Lake Tahoe’s water quality. Others will be part of the boats performing both surface cleanups and sub-surface scuba cleanups.

They will also need litter sorting volunteers the following week, on the morning of July 9 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. – if you can’t make it work this weekend but still want to be involved!
