SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Historical Society is holding another one of its popular Tahoe History Talks on the Beach at Lakeview Commons on Tuesday, July 8, 2025, from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

This week’s guest speaker is Larry Maurice, a cowboy poet and historian. He is a student of the late 19th and early 20th-century masters of the Cowboy storytelling genre, and is highly regarded as a performer. Larry has been nominated by the Academy of Western Artists for the Will Rodgers Award for Best Male Cowboy Poet.

Poetry, bragging, lies, tall tales, and outrageous testimonials–that’s the repertoire of cowboy entertainer Larry Maurice. Although he started writing poetry when he was a kid, he had no idea at the time that it was Cowboy poetry that would take him on tour across the United States and Canada.

The show is free, but donations are appreciated. The seating is on the Lakeview Commons stone stadium-style seats, so you may want to bring a low-back chair or a cushion to sit on.

Visit the Lake Tahoe Historical Society website to sign up for notifications of future events – http://www.laketahoemuseum.org/. The History Museum is open Thursdays, Fridays, and Saturdays from 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. until the end of August.
