SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – South Tahoe’s Babe Ruth baseball 14U All-Star team came to play last Monday with two decisive wins over Fallon in the Nevada State Championship series at Todd Field. Cayson Gomez notched a win in the first game with a one-hit shutout, striking out four and walking one. Seamus Donahue led the run support with 3 RBIs. He and Max Vadnais led the team in scoring, each adding 2 runs, as South Tahoe won 10-0.
Donovan Gomez took to the mound for the second game, matching his brother’s one-hit shutout over three innings. Rowan Galli closed the game, sealing a 19-1 win. With Fallon’s pitching depleted, Tahoe batters scored up and down the lineup. Seamus Donahue again led the offense with 4 RBIs on 3 hits. Donovan Gomez added 3 RBIs on 2 hits. Max Vadnais, Hudson James, Cayson Gomez, and Otto Eckholm each scored multiple runs.
With this state championship victory, South Tahoe’s 14U All Stars advance to represent Nevada in the Babe Ruth Pacific Southwest Regionals July 20-26 in Orcutt, California. They will compete against other champions from Arizona, California, and Hawaii.
