SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Over 70 groups and close to 500 people participated in the City of South Lake Tahoe’s annual 4th of July Parade Monday. They were met with waves and cheers along the parade route as thousands of people lined the streets, many in their red, white, and blue clothing, flags, hats, and other patriotic displays.

The scores have been tallied for the inaugural Best of the Parade Awards, and the winners are:

Best Float: South Tahoe Public Utility District
~Runner Up: Upper Montgomery States Neighborhood

Best Walking Group: Soroptimist International of Tahoe Sierra
~Runner Up: Lake Tahoe Pride

Best Youth Group: South Lake Tahoe Junior Giants
~Runner Up: South Lake Tahoe National Little League

Best Decorated Vehicles: Durkin Tree Service
~Runner Up: Ageless Zen

The History & Heritage Award: Navy Veterans & Shipmates; Orly Larson and David Kramer
