EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit (LTBMU) crews discovered four fire-related incidents at the Luther Pass Campground on Friday.

The fire prevention team with the Forest Service said each one of the incidents could have easily spread into Christmas Valley, Meyers, and beyond.

They ask, “Did you or anyone you know camp there last night?”

Anyone with information on the person or persons responsible is asked to please email the details to sm.fs.paltbmu@usda.gov.

Here is what everyone who enjoys nature needs to remember to prevent wildfires:

  • Never leave campfires unattended!
  • Extinguish campfires completely before leaving or going to bed!
  • Never dump ash or coals!
