SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – After 10 years of offering clear kayak tours on the East Shore of Lake Tahoe, Clearly Tahoe has announced a new partnership with Camp Richardson Resort to bring more recreational activity options to visitors of the South Shore. Camp Richardson’s waterfront location is an exciting addition to the Clearly Tahoe family as it offers paddlers front-row seats to some of Lake Tahoe’s oldest settlements and most stunning views. Guests can expect to walk away from each tour having learned about the significance of these historic landmarks, the geology of the lake, and insights into the incredible ecosystem that makes Tahoe such an iconic destination.
The beauty of the Taylor Creek Marsh and the yearly salmon run in Taylor Creek, both featured on this tour route, provide guests with an excellent example of the delicate balance between humans and local wildlife in Lake Tahoe. Guides hope that experiencing these sites firsthand will leave guests inspired to help support the practices of leaving no trace, keeping wildlife wild, and stopping the spread of aquatic invasive species.
This new location offers South Lake residents and visitors the option to paddle Clearly Tahoe’s signature clear kayaks from a launch point that can easily be accessed by the South Lake bike path or public transit. Clearly Tahoe hopes that this will aid in the recent push to help reduce traffic and vehicle pollution around the lake.
“Camp Richardson and the surrounding historic sites are excellent examples of preservation practices at work. We hope that our paddlers will come for the views and the experience, and will leave feeling like they too can make a meaningful difference in preserving Lake Tahoe in their own way,” says Ryan Wykoff, Clearly Tahoe’s South Lake Tahoe general manager.
Two family-friendly, beginner-level tour options are being released this summer, giving guests the option to choose from the completely clear kayaks or Hobie pedal kayaks for a longer adventure. Tours will be offered during the spring and summer seasons, and through the color change of the aspen groves into late fall. Reservations are required for tours and can be made online, by phone, or in person at one of Clearly Tahoe’s storefronts.
