Howie Nave back on the air at 93.9FM

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As previously announced, KRLT-FM is under the ownership of Robin Rothschild, and this week marks a milestone in bringing local radio back to South Lake Tahoe.

Rothschild moved station operations into the Swiss Chalet Village and has been working with engineers, putting all of the components together. The last step was the installation of microphones, and now there is a checkmark next to that task.

And with the station back in full swing, comedian Howie Nave is back on the air with his “Howie’s Morning Rush,” a popular daily show that mixes music, laughs, interviews, and local segments with residents and nonprofit representatives dropping by the station to celebrate their events.

During his first two days back on the air, at 93.9FM Howie was answering messages from fans who had been missing him.

Howie has not been on the air since November 2023 when he received notice that the previous studio was being closed. In September 2024, a bankruptcy judge approved the sale of the station to Rothschild, and she has been hard at work since then to get on the air.

The station format is what is called “album music,” which is like a photo album of different genres, new and old songs, and quality sound. For starters this week, Howie is in control of the airwaves from 8 a.m. to noon with “Howie’s Morning Rush”, with Robin on with “Live at 5 with Robin,” 5 p.m. to 6 p.m., to start, then adding an extra hour soon. Howie will be moving to 6 a.m. to 10 a.m. starting August 4. A midday guy is coming soon.

Howie said he is looking forward to welcoming back his guests. He has been filling his time since going off the air with stand-up comedy gigs in Reno, Carson City, Stateline and Sacramento. He said the one-two comedy shows a month helped, but he is in his element behind the microphone on the air.

“Life feels more normal,” said Howie during his second show back.

Robin is very excited to be part of her new community, and says South Lake Tahoe has been very welcoming and looks forward to the community aspect of KRLT-FM. She wants to add more segments with local value, including the news.

“You know, I feel reincarnated,” said the woman who owned radio stations on the East Coast.

She is not going to operate KOWL, the former AM station owned by the previous owners and involved in the bankruptcy sale.

KRLT can be livestreamed if not near a local radio – https://krltradio.com/. Robin said the webpage is a simple one right now, but she needed to get it started for the livestreaming part, and more is to come. The radio station can be reached at 530.573.KRLT (5758).

Social media for the station is being ramped up, and Howie can be found on platforms as Howie’s Morning Rush – KRLT 93.9.
