SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – National Night Out in South Lake Tahoe brought out the community Tuesday as everyone visited with the South Lake Tahoe Police Department, El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office and its Search & Rescue and STAR teams, California Highway Patrol, El Dorado County Probation, Alpine County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney, South Lake Tahoe Fire Rescue, Lake Valley Fire Protection District, CalFIRE, and El Dorado County Animal Control.

National Night Out is held annually on the first Tuesday of August and is meant to enhance the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

The big hit with kids was all the games at the different booths and the Search & Rescue ropes course. Kids were strapped into a harness and volunteers used a pulley system to pull the kids across as they retrieved a cone, symbolizing a rescue.
