SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Temperatures will be ramping up to start the week at Lake Tahoe. A Heat Advisory is in effect Monday-Wednesday for western Nevada valleys and portions of northeast California, with highs 95-105 degrees and moderate to locally major HeatRisk, according to the National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno. Lake Tahoe won’t be getting quite as high, but NWS Reno says there will be some isolated HeatRisk areas in the Sierra.
HeatRisk is a NWS and Centers for Disease Control forecast tool to assess the potential for heat-related impacts on human health. It uses a color-coded scale to indicate the risk level, ranging from “no risk” to “extreme.”
After the stretch of hot weather early in the week, there will be increasing chances for isolated thunderstorms and some gustier winds midweek.
