SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As the new school year starts on August 25, there will be a new leader at the helm of Meyers Elementary. Heather Hart is no stranger to the Lake Tahoe Unified School District (LTUSD) and will bring over 25 years of local teaching and administration skills to the new job.
Hart was a classroom teacher at multiple sites (K–6), a District Content Area Specialist, and, most recently as the Assistant Principal at South Tahoe High School. She said she has had the honor of teaching Preppie K/Kindergarten at Meyers (LTESMS) in the past, which makes returning as principal feel like coming full circle.
“LTUSD is more than just my professional home—it’s where I’ve grown, led, and dedicated my life’s work to serving students, families, and staff,” said Hart, her energy and excitement seeping through the words.
The new principal will hit the road running. She said her immediate focus is on building strong relationships with students, staff, and families.
“I’m excited to listen, learn, and lead with heart,” said Hart. “Meyers has an incredible foundation, and I plan to build on that legacy by supporting a culture where everyone feels connected, supported, and inspired to do what’s best for kids every day.”
The mother of two sons, Kash (18) and Krew (16), who have grown up in LTUSD schools, Hart said being a part of their educational journey has been one of her greatest joys.
“I am deeply grateful to the incredible team of educators whose guidance, encouragement, and belief in them have played such a vital role in their growth and accomplishments,” she said.
Hart earned an Associate’s degree in Liberal Studies from Lake Tahoe Community College, a Bachelor’s degree in Humanities with a Psychology emphasis from Sierra Nevada College, and a Master’s in Educational Administration from National University.
