SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – With four scheduled wine tastings in August and September, the team at Black Bear Lodge is excited to welcome back wineries after three years, with the additions of live music and food options.
The first event is Saturday, August 16 and will feature four wines from Bella Grace Vineyards.
“Over the last several years, we’ve been making strides in our sustainability efforts. One of them being our wine menu. We now exclusively serve wines from smaller, family-operated wineries that have concrete practices for caring for the soil that grows their grapes. Bella Grace is a perfect example of our vision,” said Black Bear Lodge owner, Rachel Carlson.
Doing things right the first time is the driving force behind Bella Grace wine philosophy. From preparing the soil with organic compost, planting nutritional cover crops, pruning for low yields, thinning the crops during summer, and sorting the grapes during harvest, to ensuring customer satisfaction, it was important that high-quality grapes came out of the vineyard. Quality wine grapes would establish the difference in Bella Grace wines.
A four-wine tasting flight is $20, no reservations are required, and bottle discounts will be available to take your favorite wines home with you.

Barnett Vineyards and live music with Mic Smith
Barnett Vineyards is located at the very top of Spring Mountain at its peak of 2050 feet, well above the inversion layer of fog that blankets the Valley floor below. Due to the inversion layer, this unique microclimate influences the mountain vineyard by allowing up to 3 hours more sunlight per day. The additional sunlight is a critical element in why Barnett Vineyards’ fruit achieves more consistent ripening and flavor development vintage to vintage. During the afternoon, breezes come in from the Pacific Ocean creating a desirable cooling influence on the vines and thus benefiting the fruit development even more.
Friday, September 12 from 5-7 PM
Jacquart Champagne and live music with The Dark Sages
Join us for a special champagne tasting! Founded in 1964, Jacquart is a relatively young champagne house with a more modern and relaxed approach to champagne, making small moments in life special and leaving the ordinary to add a little joy to life. Their range of vineyard terroirs, the focus on Chardonnay in their blends, and the extended ageing of the wines, encapsulate a unique and contemporary style—fresh, graceful, refined.
Friday, September 19 from 5-7 PM
