SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The South Lake Tahoe Planning Commission will hold its next meeting on Thursday, April 21, at 3 p.m. in the City Council Chambers at the airport.
On their agenda:
A South Lake Tahoe resident on Lakeview Avenue is appealing the denial of his Vacation Home Rental (VHR) permit application. The new VHR ordinance states that homeowners who have had three or more violations in the past are not eligible for a new permit post-Measure T. According to the staff report, the homeowner had three violations for renting the home when it was not legal to have a VHR outside of the Tourist Core.
To help with the creation of new, affordable housing in South Lake Tahoe, the City Council has approved Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs). To help homeowners, they asked staff to create pre-approved plans, and the Commission will be discussing them.
Voting on a recommendation to City Council to Adopt an ordinance to amend building codes: Amending City Code, Title 6, Chapter 6.15 (Building Regulations), Section 6.15.010 and 6.15.160 by adopting the 2025 California Building Standards Code (California Code of Regulations Title 24), including Green Building Code, Building Code, Fire Code, and Related Construction Codes.
The Planning Commission will also discuss a proposed project that involves the development of eleven units within six three-story structures. Each unit will contain four bedrooms and three and a half bathrooms. Other amenities include an in-unit washer and dryer, personal balconies, and two covered parking spaces. The site was previously occupied by “Nel’s Tahoe Hardware” which was established in 1963.
