SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. –  Caltrans is advising motorists of the continuation of several construction projects within the Lake Tahoe Basin next week.

Along State Route 28 (SR 28), construction on a $31.7 million pavement rehabilitation project continues. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka.

  • Paint striping operations between Old County Road and Lake Forest Road (west), one-way traffic control is scheduled from 7 p.m. Sunday, August 16 until 7 a.m. Monday, August 17 and from 7 p.m. Monday, August 17 until 7 a.m. Tuesday, August 18.
  • Between Old County Road and Carnelian Woods Avenue from 7 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 until 7 a.m. Wednesday, August 19 and from 7 p.m. Wednesday, August 19 until 7 a.m. Thursday, August 20. Work is also scheduled from 7 p.m. Thursday, August 20 until 7 a.m. Friday, August 21.

Along State Route 89 (SR 89), construction on a $20.8 million pavement rehabilitation project continues with pavement work scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at various locations between the Nevada/Placer County line in Truckee and Alpine Meadows Road from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Sunday, August 16 through Friday, August 21. The contractor for this project is Teichert Construction.

A broadband project on SR 89 along the West Shore is part of a larger statewide effort by the California Department of Technology to bring high-speed internet into rural communities. The contractor for this project is also Teichert Construction.

Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in Placer County during the following dates and times:

  • Between Trout Street and Sugar Pine Road, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. Sunday, August 16 until 7 a.m. Monday, August 17.
  • Between Tallac Avenue and Timberland Lane and between Chinquapin Lane and Fanny Bridge, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. Monday, August 17 until 10 a.m. Tuesday, August 18.
  • Between Tallac Avenue and Timberland Lane and between Chinquapin Lane and Fanny Bridge, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. Tuesday, August 18 until 10 a.m. Wednesday, August 19.
  • Between Tallac Avenue and Timberland Lane and between Chinquapin Lane and Fanny Bridge, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. Wednesday, August 19 until 10 a.m. Thursday, August 20.
  • Between Cherry Street and Sugar Pine Road and Sequoia Avenue (middle) and Fanny Bridge, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. Thursday, August 20 until 7 a.m. Friday, August 21.

Broadband work is scheduled along SR 89 in El Dorado County during the following dates and times:

  • Between Cascade Road and Rubicon Bay, one-way traffic control is scheduled from 9 p.m. to 7 a.m. Sunday, August 16 through Friday, August 21. No work is scheduled from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. each day.

In addition, SR 89 near Luther Pass will be under one-way traffic control to repair a small sinkhole in the southbound lane from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, August 16 through Friday, August 21.  

Motorists could encounter delays of up to 20 minutes at each location. All work on road construction projects will be suspended on weekends and holidays. Schedules are subject to change due to weather conditions, equipment and material availability, and/or other unexpected events.
