SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – State Senator Marie Alvarado-Gil addressed the Republican Women of CA-South Lake Tahoe at their annual BBQ. She represents California’s 4th State Senate District, covering 13 eastern counties, including South Lake Tahoe. The 80 constituents attending learned of the Senator’s resilience from her initial election as a Democrat to her 2024 switch to the Republican Party.

The Senator is a native Californian who grew up among apricot and cherry orchards and learned the values of hard work and perseverance from her grandparents. Guided by these values, she attained both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of San Francisco, establishing a reputation as a distinguished leader in the public and nonprofit sectors. Elected in 2022, Marie is recognized for her advocacy on behalf of rural communities, crime victims, and vulnerable children. She authored SB 268, which addresses a significant legal gap and enhances protections for victims of sexual violence, underscoring her commitment to public safety. Her initiatives have included supporting wildfire relief efforts, safeguarding agricultural interests, and fostering collaboration with law enforcement agencies. Through pragmatic leadership, she advances middle-class priorities, maintains a position against excessive government intervention, and promotes community cohesion. Additionally, Alvarado-Gil established My First Farm, a nonprofit organization dedicated to introducing children to agriculture and animal care.
