SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – An adult male bear has been receiving quite the attention after being found inside the Camp Richardson Ice Cream Parlor early Sunday morning.

Deputies from the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) responded to the August 17 call for service and were surprised to find a big bear behind the counter.

“The deputies could barely believe their eyes as they saw a large bear behind the counter of the shop,” the agency said on Facebook.”With some encouragement, the bear ultimately left, but only after showing interest in the strawberry ice cream.” Or should that be “strawbeary?”

There was not much property damage and “bearly” any cleanup was required.

The bear was seen causing problems in the Fallen Leaf Campground this week and is estimated to be 4-6 years old.
