SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The Lake Tahoe Documentary Film Festival (LTDFF) will
return April 23–25, 2027, bringing three days of documentary films, filmmakers, conversations, and community to its new festival home at Valhalla Tahoe in South Lake Tahoe.
Now entering its third year, LTDFF uses the power of documentary film to foster connection, compassion, and a deeper understanding of the world. Through remarkable films, shared experiences, and meaningful conversations, the festival aims to entertain, enlighten, and inspire while building community and celebrating storytelling that transcends boundaries.
Set along the shores of Lake Tahoe, Valhalla Tahoe’s commitment to arts, culture, and
community makes it a natural home for the festival. “We’re incredibly excited to bring the festival to Valhalla,” said LTDFF Executive Director Michelle Ficara. “There is something really special about experiencing documentary films together, and Valhalla gives us an intimate, beautiful Tahoe setting to create that sense of connection between filmmakers, audiences, and our community.”
The 2027 festival will feature a curated lineup of feature-length and short documentaries, filmmaker Q&As, special events, and opportunities for audiences and storytellers to connect.
FILM SUBMISSIONS NOW OPEN
LTDFF is now accepting documentary submissions for its 2027 festival. The festival is seeking compelling documentary films that spark curiosity, deepen understanding, inspire conversation, and connect audiences through powerful true stories.
Filmmakers are invited to submit both short and feature-length documentaries for consideration.
LOCAL SPOTLIGHT: RENO-TAHOE FILMMAKERS & STORIES
LTDFF’s Local Spotlight is dedicated to showcasing the rich storytelling, talent, and creativity of the Reno-Tahoe community. The festival welcomes both documentary shorts and features that are created by filmmakers from the Reno-Tahoe area, tell stories rooted in the region, or combine both.
The Local Spotlight gives regional filmmakers and stories a dedicated place on the festival screen while giving audiences an opportunity to discover the people, places, and stories being told right here in our community.
Submissions to the Local Film category are free.
