UPDATE: Friday 7:00 a.m. – Firefighters continue to hold the fire and it is still mapped at 624 acres. It is now 10 percent contained. More than 1,350 firefighting personnel are assigned to the Coyote Fire and evacuation warnings remain in place for areas near Omo and Somerset.

UPDATE: Thursday 6:20 p.m. – Firefighters held the fire Thursday at 624 acres and 5 percent containment, according to Cal Fire Amador – El Dorado Unit. Ground crews will continue working diligently through the night. Evacuation warnings remain in place.

UPDATE: Thursday 8:30 a.m. – The fire is now mapped at 624 acres and is 5 percent contained. More than 1,250 personnel from multiple agencies are working on the fire with ground and air resources are continuing to aggressively fight the fire. Evacuation warnings remain in place.

EL DORADO.COUNTY, Calif. – UPDATE 10:50 p.m. – The fire is now at 554 acres. Ground and air resources will continue battling the fire through the night. Per the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office, evacuation warnings are in place – https://perimetermap.com.

EL DORADO COUNTY, Calif. – The Coyote Fire started around 2:20 p.m. on Wednesday, August 20 in a remote area in El Dorado County at the Amador County line near the Omo and Somerset zones. As of 7:47 p.m., the fire is mapped at 400 acres.

The fire area is hard to access, and CalFire has been fighting the fire from the ground and the air.

There are evacuation warnings in place.
