LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Temperatures may be in the 80s this week, but for many, it is never too early to start planning for the winter ski and ride season. Vail Resorts announced their opening dates for the 2025-26 season on Wednesday. Heavenly and Northstar are slated to open on November 21, and Kirkwood on December 5.

In its announcement, Vail Resorts also provided a peek into what guests can expect when buying their season passes. The Epic Pass is available now through September 1 at the lowest price of the fall, and pass holders can invite friends along at 50 percent off. The Epic Local Pass ($799 adults; $416 children) provides season-long access to 29 resorts, plus access to more destination resorts with some restrictions. Epic 1-7 Day Passes provide up to 65 percent savings compared to lift ticket prices by purchasing ahead of the season.
