LAKE TAHOE, Nev. – The Nevada Department of Transportation (NDOT) has provided construction updates for the U.S. 50 Tahoe Stateline to Spooner Summit Repaving Project for September

Paving 24-hour work:

Crews will begin paving at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 2 to Friday, Sept. 12 from Zephyr Cove to Cave Rock. (Note: paving from Round Hill to Zephyr Cove will occur at a later date to align with a separate drainage project.)

24-hour work raising manholes and permanent striping:

From Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. through Friday, Sept. 12 at 7 a.m. crews will raise the manhole and utility valve covers up through the new pavement during the first week in Sept. During the second week, permanent striping and pavement marking (crosswalks, stop bars, turn arrows) installation will take place from Stateline to Round Hill Pines at night, where paving has been completed.

Guardrail, barrier rail, ITS:

24-hour work from Sundays 8 p.m. until noon on Fridays through Oct. 15, with installing guardrail, barrier rail, curb and gutter, and ITS conduit north of Zephyr Cove to Cave Rock. Approximate times for guardrail work are from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m., barrier rail from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m., and ITS from 9 p.m. to 4 p.m.

All work zones:

No lane restrictions are expected on weekends. A minimum of one lane in each direction will stay open at all times. Drivers can anticipate moderate travel delays through the work zone. Speeds will be reduced to 35 mph through work zones. While access to businesses and residences will be continuously maintained in most areas, certain side streets and driveways will temporarily be impacted as roadway excavation takes place in the immediate area. Steel plates and earthwork will then be used after excavation to reestablish side street access.
