SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – The annual automotive experience, Lake2o, is heading to the South Shore August 27-31. The organized event is not your typical car show, as enthusiasts gather at different locations in both Douglas County and El Dorado County, and not at one spot. They have not held any events in the City of South Lake Tahoe in a few years, according to the South Lake Tahoe Police Department (SLTPD), and none are planned.
SLTPD has been in direct communication with the event organizer, who has made it clear: there is zero tolerance for disruptive or disrespectful behavior. The organizer doesn’t want those who may misbehave during the weekend to be a part of the event.
According to SLTPD Sgt. Doug Sentell, his department, along with the El Dorado County Sheriff and the Douglas County Sheriff offices, have been discussing the event with each other as well as the California Highway Patrol. Sentell said they will continue to be in touch with each other during the weekend.
During the 2024 Lake2o, there were peaceful gatherings by participants in both El Dorado and Douglas counties, and no incidents occurred.
Sentell said Lake2o is not a side show event with problems that happen in other towns, but a gathering of car enthusiasts who want to enjoy Tahoe, and cars.
“We’ll have extra officers on duty throughout the holiday weekend to help ensure a safe and enjoyable environment for all,” said SLTPD on social media. “Please celebrate responsibly and be respectful of our community.”
