SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – High pressure strengthens this week with a build-back over the high desert areas of the west coast. This will initiate a period of anomalous above-average heating over much of the Great Basin region that extends west into the Sierra, but most of Lake Tahoe will be spared. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno said a prolonged stretch of heat is possible through the Labor Day Weekend. Some areas will experience a 15-20 percent chance of isolated showers and thunderstorms Monday afternoon and evening. If they occur they’d be across portions of the eastern Sierra and western Nevada.

The South Lake Tahoe forecast for the week from NWS Reno. The temperatures were updated since the story was first released and the following is the forecast since Monday:

Monday – Sunny, with a high near 85. Light and variable wind first from the north around 5 mph, then becoming west.

Monday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Southwest wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Tuesday – Sunny, with a high near 87. Calm wind becoming west around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Tuesday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 47. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph.

Wednesday – Sunny, with a high near 89. Calm wind becoming southwest around 5 mph in the afternoon.

Wednesday Night – Clear, with a low around 46. West wind around 5 mph becoming calm in the evening.

Thursday – Sunny, with a high near 89.

Thursday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 48.

Friday – Sunny, with a high near 88.

Friday Night – Clear, with a low around 47.

Saturday – Sunny, with a high near 90.

Saturday Night – Mostly clear, with a low around 50.

Sunday – Sunny, with a high near 91.
