STATELINE, Nev. – The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) arrested 60-year-old Abraham Rubio on August 29 on suspicion of sexually assaulting a Food & Beverage staff member.
According to a report by a DCSO detective, Rubio, a Food & Beverage director, allegedly pinned the victim against the door in his office and attempted to unbutton her shirt and kiss her after calling her into his office. She told the detective that Rubio had made several unwanted comments and advances toward her before that day that had made her uncomfortable.
The victim stated she did not consent to this conduct and told Rubio she did not want to participate. She said Rubio continued making unwanted sexual advances and
attempted to place his hand inside the front of her pants.
The detective stated the victim said she repeatedly told Rubio she did not want to participate and told him “no” several times. She also stated this conduct occurred on several occasions.
The last time, she told a fellow employee, and they went to Human Resources and Edgewood Security and reported the incident.
The DCSO detective interviewed Rubio and subsequently arrested him. He said the suspect couldn’t come up with explanations for how the victim knew about a marking on his inner thigh or the color of his underwear, both given in detail to the detective.
Both Rubio and the victim said they had never been intimate.
Rubio was booked into the Douglas County Jail and initially held on a $100,003 bond. After his first court appearance in Tahoe Justice Court on Sept. 1, he was released on $20,000 cash bail.
