Eleven Tahoe Blue Fins swimmers attended the Molly Lahlum Memorial Autumn Freeze swim meet in the outdoor pool at the Carson Valley Swim Center, September 12-14. The swimmers competed against teams from across Northern Nevada and California. Every swimmer had noteworthy swims with numerous personal records and top-eight finishes.
Philip Ksiazek dropped over 39 seconds across 6 events in the 11-12 boys age group. He blew past the thirty-second barrier in his 50 free with a 28.82. He placed in the top eight in every event, including third in the 100 free and 50 breaststroke and second in the 50 free.
Nadine Roverund placed in the top eight in three events in the 11-12 girls age group including a personal record and second place in the 100 free, fifth in the 50 free, and sixth in the 200 free.
Mara Larson competed in her first swim meet and placed first in all five of her events, broke two Tahoe Swim Team records in the 50 back and 100 free, and was the high point winner for the 6 and under age group.
The following swimmers had personal records in their events: Maeve Donahue (200 IM, 100 butterfly, 50 butterfly), Catalina Duvoisin (50 breaststroke and 100 IM), Rowan Edmonds (100 free, 100 breaststroke, 50 free, and 100 free), Mazie Eicher (100 breaststroke), Ali Grime (100 back), Madison Mora (100 free and 100 breaststroke), and Emerie Smith (50 free and 50 breaststroke). Rowan Edmonds dropped over 21 seconds across four events and Madison Mora dropped over 24 seconds in her 100 breaststroke. Tennie Kurth competed in her first swim meet and successfully completed the 50 breaststroke, 50 free, and 50 back.
The Tahoe Blue Fins Swim Team is a year-round competitive swim program based at the South Tahoe Recreation Center for swimmers ages 6-18. The program is open to new swimmers who can demonstrate a 25 freestyle and 25 backstroke. If you have a background in swimming, the team is looking to expand the coaching staff.
