SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A high-pressure ridge is building off the northern California coast, moving inland and bringing dry conditions with temperatures near or slightly above average for the Sierra and western Nevada. The National Weather Service (NWS) in Reno says its latest guidance is trending drier for Tuesday, with the ridge delaying the northward progress of the chance of rain due on Wednesday and Thursday.

For mid-late week, there is a 30-40 percent chance of showers and isolated thunderstorms Wednesday through Thursday. At this time, the weekend is looking mainly dry with high pressure hanging on over northern Nevada. Temperature-wise, warmer-than-average conditions are likely to continue, with the next potential for some cooling toward the end of September.
