SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – As inflation has increased food prices by 24 percent since the beginning of the pandemic, it has imposed significant hardship on those least able to afford the higher costs of essential food. To help those most impacted by the food price increases, Bread & Broth (B&B) offers hot meals twice weekly to any individual who comes through our doors to enjoy the Monday Meal served at St. Theresa Grace Hall or Second Serving every Friday at Lake Tahoe Community Presbyterian Church. In addition to the meals served, the Monday Meal dinner guests receive bags filled with meat, dairy products, fresh fruit and vegetables, breads, and desserts, and other food staples.

Bread & Broth’s community meals are funded by individual donations, grants, and Bread & Broth’s Adopt A Day of Nourishment program. In 2011, to increase donations and to encourage partnerships with community members, organizations, and businesses, B&B began partnering with their first Adopt A Day sponsors.

Harrah’s/Harveys’ HEROs have been sponsoring 2-4 Adopt A Days (AAD) annually since the inception of the program. This casino employee-based organization has been showing their support and concern for their fellow community members over the years by donating funds and sending 4-5 HEROs members to help at their sponsorship meals.

On Monday, October 2nd, the HEROs hosted their AAD of the year and they sent a seasoned and helpful group of team members to help provide a hot and healthy meal to the 75 dinner guests.

“It is an honor and a blessing to serve our community. In serving others, our hearts are filled with joy and happiness,” shared Darlene Winkelman as she represented her fellow AAD team members Stephanie Davis, Sherry Newberger, and Janeen White.

Bread & Broth truly appreciates the continued support of the local employee-based organization.
