The newly formed Interact Club of South Lake Tahoe just finished up their first community service project of the school year, a clothing drive. Knowing that some of their classmates may not have the clothing needed to keep warm during winter, the students started a clothing drive.
The clothing will be kept in a room managed by the South Tahoe High Booster Club that will also have non-perishable food items to distribute to students in need. Twice a week that room will be open to students to visit and get needed food and clothing. Those dates will be announced at a later date.
Interact is the youth version of Rotary International for students up to age 18. The South Tahoe High Interact Club meets each Monday in room B-5 during lunch hour. All students are invited to attend. Its a great way to get required community service credits.
This active group of teens is also planning on a service project to help residents of another country, as well as adopting a family during the holidays and several other hands-on projects.
For more information, visit their facebook page or follow them on twitter @VikingsInteract.
The club is jointly sponsored by the Tahoe Douglas Rotary Club and the South Lake Tahoe Rotary Club.
