LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Caltrans is advising motorists of various lane closures next week due to multiple construction projects in the Lake Tahoe region. 

Paving operations are scheduled this weekend for a new roundabout at U.S. Highway 50 (US 50) and Pioneer Trail in Meyers Saturday, October 18 and Sunday, October 19, from 7 a.m. until 4 p.m.

Paving operations are scheduled on US 50 in South Lake Tahoe between Wildwood Avenue and Midway Road Monday, October 20 through Thursday, October 23 from 7 a.m. until 5:30 p.m. Work is also scheduled Friday, October 24 from 7 a.m. until noon.

In Tahoe City along State Route 28 (SR 28), work continues on a $31.7 million Caltrans pavement rehabilitation project. The contractor for this project is Mercer Fraser Company of Eureka.

Work is scheduled between Jackpine Street and Commons Beach Road Monday, October 20 through Thursday, October 23 from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m. and Friday, October 24 from 7 a.m. until noon. Crews will be raising utilities, curb ramps, minor electrical work and striping on the roadwayAccess to cross streets and driveways will remain open, however no street parking will be permitted in the construction zone.

The $10.6 million Fanny Bridge project continues with drainage and electrical work scheduled for next week. The new Fanny Bridge is scheduled to reopen to all traffic in late November. During the project, traffic will detour onto Lake Boulevard bypass to access State Route 89 (SR 89) and SR 28. West Lake Boulevard remains open for business and transit center access with only the Fanny Bridge being closed. The pedestrian and bicycle path across the Truckee River Dam will remain open throughout the project. The project is led by the Federal Highway Administration and the contractor is Thompson Builders of Novato.

Additional projects along SR 28 include:

  • Broadband utility work is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect in Kings Beach between Secline Street and Raccoon Street Sunday, October 19 through Friday, October 24 from 7 p.m. until 6 a.m.
  • Additional work is scheduled with bi-directional traffic in effect between Raccoon Street and the Nevada state line Monday, October 20 through Friday, October 24 from 7 a.m. until 6:30 p.m.

Along SR 89 in Placer County, utility work is scheduled between South Street and Fern Street in the Homewood area from 8 a.m. Monday, October 20 through noon Friday, October 24.

Tree work is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect between McKinney Drive (North) and South Street Wednesday, October 22 from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. Additional tree work is scheduled Thursday, October 23 from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m. between Timberland Lane and Ward Creek.

Utility work is scheduled at the Truckee River Bridge between Alpine Meadows and Olympic Valley on Friday, October 24 from 8 a.m. until noon.

Along SR 89 in El Dorado County, utility work is scheduled with one-way traffic control in effect at Fallen Leaf Lake Road on Monday, October 20 from 7 a.m. until 4:30 p.m.
