Get your bell bottoms and bangles on, because this year’s Soroptimist Gala is going to be a groovy time at the new Golden Nugget! The ladies of Soroptimist International of South Lake Tahoe,  the “Noon Club”, have been working tirelessly on this annual event.

Co-Chairs Ellen McCullough and Roberta Benvenuto and their team are planning a very fun evening of food, wine, whiskey, beer, and desserts, with a 60s and 70s theme costume party. If you’ve never been to this annual event, it is a fabulously produced fundraiser that benefits so many other organizations in our community. In the last 25 years, they have raised over $2 million dollars that they give right back to deserving programs: Bread & Broth, Beach Clean-Up, Gift of Literacy, Fighting Chance, Scholarships, the list goes on and on.

Of course the highlight of the evening is the Silent Auction of Gift Baskets and other special treasures. Dare I say, there may be upwards of 100 this year. Overflowing and exquisitely wrapped, these baskets are curated one at a time by the ladies, thanks to the very generous donations from merchants and individuals. But to make clear, it is not just about trying to get donations, but rather partnering with the community to create lasting business and social relationships.

Ellen McCullough says, “We’ll do the work, but we need your help and support. Partnerships make a strong organization that can continue to take care of the underserved. We need more mentoring! Consider joining our Club, you will make friends that last a lifetime, and you will make a difference!”

Dress up and enjoy Tahoe’s biggest party in two rooms!  19 restaurants serving up tasty bites, lots of great wines, booze and non-alcoholic beverages. Costume Contest with really good prizes, DJ spinning while you Christmas shop, then continue the party after at the Golden Nugget!

Tickets may still be available at the door but you should buy now! Tickets are $100 and for those 21 and over.
