SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – Wendy Jones is a longtime Lake Tahoe local who has dedicated her life to helping people and animals every chance she’s had. Through her nonprofit Tahoe PAWS and animal advocacy group TLC 4 Furry Friends, Wendy has helped dozens of people.
Wendy and her team of volunteers have reconnected numerous lost pets with their owners over long hours (and days, weeks). Their high success rate is due to not only a lot of time but also consistency, communication, follow-through, effort, money & hard work. They guide owners on what not to do when their dog goes missing, then spend hours in the field to locate the pet.
Now Wendy needs help from the community.
During a family vacation, Wendy was on an ATV in Montana when she had a freak accident. She ended up rolling multiple times down an embankment into a rocky creek. It took hours to get her out of the backcountry to a hospital. She was extremely lucky it was not worse and a miracle she was not killed.
Wendy will be unable to work for a while. She suffered a dislocated ankle, a broken leg, and severe injuries to her knee, leg, ribs, arm, and elbow. Friends have started a fundraising campaign to help ease the stress while Wendy goes through physical therapy and heals. All monies donated will help Wendy cover her ongoing medical care and her monthly bills while she is unable to work, allowing Wendy to focus on healing and stress less on how she will cover those bills.
