SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif. – A Sunday morning traffic stop in South Lake Tahoe led to the arrest of 62-year-old Donald Freitas by the El Dorado County Sheriff’s Office (EDSO) and the confiscation of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. According to reports, Freitas, a Nevada resident, was driving a gray Nissan Pathfinder on Lake Tahoe Blvd. near Fairway Blvd. when EDSO conducted a traffic enforcement stop.
During the course of the traffic stop and investigation, EDSO says narcotics paraphernalia and illegal narcotics were found in the vehicle. Approximately 5.5 ounces of suspected methamphetamine were located.
Freitas was arrested and booked into the El Dorado County Jail for numerous drug-related charges, including Transport/etc controlled substance, Possess controlled substance for sale, and Possess controlled substance with two or more priors, all felonies. He currently faces a bail hold of $1,315,000 though he is on a no-bail hold.
