Dear Editor: On November 11, 2025, we will once again observe Veterans Day—a solemn United States federal holiday that honors all military veterans who have served in the U.S. Armed Forces. This day of reflection coincides with Remembrance Day and Armistice Day, marking the anniversary of the end of World War I on November 11, 1918.

We owe an immeasurable debt to our veterans—the men and women who have served and continue to serve with courage, conviction, and unwavering dedication to protect our nation and the freedoms we hold dear. They are the ones who place duty above self, a tradition that has endured since the founding of our Republic.

To the veterans of South Lake Tahoe and the South Shore: your service and sacrifice are deeply appreciated by our community. You remind us, through your example, of the strength and integrity that bind us together.

To all who have worn the uniform, my deepest thanks and appreciation. May you be blessed.  A special thank you to the American Legion and VFW posts, whose continued service ensures that our veterans are supported, honored, and never forgotten.

Respectfully,

David Jinkens, City Council Member
